2021 Honda Accord Hybrid
The Honda Accord is one of those cars that has easily built a following for its dependability, fuel efficiency, build quality, comfort, and uncomplicated style. And eco-conscious drivers love its gas-electric version, the Accord Hybrid, for the bonus good feeling of protecting the environment even more with the reduced fossil-fuel consumption that comes with partial-electric driving. The 2021 Honda Accord Hybrid is stronger than ever, as it leads its class with a horsepower output of 212. It also returns great fuel economy of 48 miles per gallon, reducing those stops at the gas station.
Upgrades for 2021
The 2021 Honda Accord Hybrid is a front-wheel-drive gas-electric four-door made in Base, EX, EX-L, and Touring trim levels. This model year’s revised powertrain is made up of a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gas-burning engine and two electric motors that combine to make 212 hp. All four trims are rated by the EPA to get 48 mpg around town and 48 mpg on the highway. Drivers may notice improvements in the 2021 Accord Hybrid’s acceleration and braking (brake-by-wire) after some adjustments by Honda’s engineers. The powertrain can now spend more time in electric mode than before, and regenerative braking also allows it to burn less gasoline than previous versions.
Performance and Capabilities
The Base Accord Hybrid is well equipped with keyless entry and ignition, frost-melting heated exterior mirrors, automatic LED headlights, automatic climate control with two zones, a front USB port, and a multi-angle backup camera with helpful dynamic guidelines. The EX also gets heated front seats, wireless device charging, fog lights, a sunroof, a power driver’s seat, and two USB charge ports for backseat passengers. Leather seats and a power passenger seat are the highlighted additions to the EX-L, which also gets driver’s seat memory, leather wrapping for the shifter knob and steering wheel, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. The top-shelf Touring is loaded with rain-sensing windshield wipers, onboard Wi-Fi, a head-up display, adaptive suspension dampers, cooled front seats, and heated rear outboard seats.
Active Safety and Technology
Honda Sensing, the automaker’s proprietary package of driver-assist technologies, outfits every 2021 Accord Hybrid with dynamic cruise control, forward collision warning, lane keeping assist, lane departure warning, and traffic sign recognition. Automatic high beams are found on each trim as well. The EX also gets a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, and front and rear parking sensors are added to the EX-L and Touring.
The infotainment system in the lowest trim has an 8-inch touchscreen, and all of the necessary features for communication and multimedia enjoyment: Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a sound system with four speakers. The Apple CarPlay and Android Auto become wireless on the EX, which also adds SiriusXM satellite radio, high-definition radio, four speakers, and hands-free texting. The EX-L gets an upgraded 10-speaker audio system, and the Touring receives navigation that can be operated by voice recognition.
