2022 honda civic si orange exterior

For almost 40 years, the Civic Si has offered Honda lovers an ideal blend of performance and practicality. Starting with the 11th-generation Civic sedan as a foundation, Honda engineers went to work redesigning the Civic Si for 2022. While it retains the robust turbocharged engine from the previous generation, the handling has been improved and some standard features have been added, including a Bose sound system. The 2022 Civic Si is a rarity in today’s market: it’s a performance-focused four-door made only with a manual transmission. It doesn’t necessarily hit you over the head with aggressive sports-car styling: its prowess is hinted at through subtly sporty components like black exterior accents, including the wheels, and a rear wing. It also has a driver-focused cockpit and a spacious cabin that comfortably seats five. The trunk is also ample, and a 60/40-split folding rear seatback adds further practicality to this driving enthusiast’s dream.

On this page, we’ll look solely at the 2022 Honda Civic Si. The other Civic models – the Sedan, Hatchback, and Type R – are covered separately.

Trims and Powertrains

The Civic Si’s lineup is two trims on the surface – the Si and Si HPT, but they’re equipped the same except for the tires. The Si HPT has high-performance summer tires (versus the all-season rubber on the Si) for extra grip in warm weather. Both versions are energized by a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 200 horsepower and 192 lb.-ft. of torque. As with previous generations, it remains front-wheel drive and stick-shift only. The 2022 version of this short-throw manual transmission has rev-matching technology for smoother downshifting. According to the EPA’s official estimates, its fuel economy is 27 mpg in city driving and 37 mpg on the highway.

The ’22 Civic Si’s performance credentials go beyond its powertrain. It’s equipped with a limited-slip differential to improve traction and bigger brakes for enhanced stopping. A sport-tuned suspension adds firmness to add stability (and fun) during cornering. As mentioned above, its exterior is highlighted by 18-inch alloy wheels in stylish black, along with a gloss-black trunk-mounted spoiler.

Standard Equipment

The Civic Si’s modern cabin enhances the daily driving thrills with a 7-inch driver information display, sport pedals, automatic climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, a tilt-and-telescopic steering column, push-button start, LED headlights with auto on/off, heated power side mirrors, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, proximity keyless entry, and a power moonroof. Honda’s updated active safety technology is standard as well, adding forward-collision mitigation, road departure mitigation, blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, traffic sign recognition, automatic high beams, and a rear seat reminder.

Everyone will stay connected and entertained thanks to the 9-inch color infotainment touchscreen and aforementioned premium Bose audio system with a dozen speakers. The system also has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, Bluetooth connectivity (hands-free audio streaming and phone use), SiriusXM satellite radio, dual USB ports, a text messaging assistant, and access to the HondaLink smartphone app for vehicle monitoring.
