Trims, Powertrain, and Towing

Honda offers the all-wheel-drive Passport in these three trims: EX-L, TrailSport, and Black Edition. All are whisked into action by a 3.5-liter V6 engine that makes 280 hp and 262 lb.-ft. of torque; its powertrain partner is a nine-speed automatic transmission. The maximum towing capacity is 5,000 pounds, and according to the EPA, every trim returns an estimated 19 mpg around town and 24 mpg on the highway.

Standard Equipment

The base EX-L is furnished well with the likes of automatic LED headlights, proximity keyless entry, a moonroof, heated side mirrors, a power liftgate, push-button start, tri-zone automatic climate control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink, a wireless phone charge pad, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, leather seats (which are heated and power-adjustable in the front row), and a 60/40-split folding rear seatback. The undaunted TrailSport adds some overlanding enhancements, including an off-road suspension and all-terrain tires. On top of that, it gets roof rails, LED fog lights, power-folding side mirrors, all-season floor mats, orange interior contrast stitching, and orange ambient LED lighting.

The brand-new Black Edition does not get the TrailSport’s off-road suspension, all-terrain tires, or all-weather floor mats, but it retains its other luxuries while adding a heated steering wheel, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a hands-free liftgate, auto-dimming side mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, and second-row climate controls. Along with its namesake black exterior accents, it shows off striking red interior contrast stitching and red ambient LED lighting.

Honda Sensing Safety Aids

The Honda Sensing suite of driver-assistive technologies comes standard in every trim level of the 2024 Passport. It bundles forward collision warning with collision mitigation braking, road departure mitigation, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, lane departure warning, front and rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high beams.

Infotainment and Connectivity

The Passport’s base infotainment system has an 8-inch touchscreen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming, SiriusXM satellite radio and HD Radio. Integrated navigation and voice recognition are added to the two higher trims, while just the Black Edition gets a convenient Wi-Fi hotspot. On the audio front, the EX-L and TrailSport have the same seven-speaker 215-watt setup, but the Black Edition expands on its attitude with a powerful 540-watt 10-speaker unit. Every trim also comes with three USB-C charging ports and a single front console USB-A data port.
