The Prologue lineup is kept simple with three trim choices – EX, Touring, and Elite – which are all rated to tow as much as 1,500 pounds. Both the EX and Touring have a standard two-wheel drive (2WD) configuration with a front-mounted motor and an 85-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. This powertrain can generate 212 horsepower and 236 lb.-ft. of torque. Although all-wheel drive (AWD) is available on every trim, only the Elite gets the dual-motor AWD system, increasing its net output to 288 horsepower and 333 lb.-ft. of torque.
The 2WD setup carries EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings of 107 mpg city and 91 mpg highway, plus an estimated 296-mile range on a full charge. When they’re equipped with AWD, the EX and Touring supply estimated returns of 101 mpg city and 88 mpg highway, with an expected range of 281 miles. The Elite with AWD will achieve an estimated 99 mpg city/84 mpg highway and 273 miles of range when it’s fully charged. The vehicle’s regenerative braking system adds incremental charge by capturing kinetic energy that forms during the stopping process. The amount of regen can be controlled using the paddles mounted on the steering wheel.
Using a standard 240-volt outlet, the AC Level 2 charge time for a ‘24 Prologue is roughly 34 miles each hour. DC fast charging via a 150-kW source can take the SUV from 20 percent to 80 percent power in approximately 35 minutes, and after just 10 minutes, FWD trims can drive up to 65 miles (AWD: 63, Elite AWD: 62). On a full charge, the EX and Touring have estimated EV ranges of 296 miles (FWD) and 281 miles (AWD), while the Elite AWD has an estimated 273-mile range. All trims have a charging status screen with a charge-level indicator.
Prologue buyers and lessees should appreciate that Honda has received top-in-class honors for its money-back charging solutions: public charging credits, a charging kit discount, and home installation credits through the Honda Home Electrification marketplace. Plus, each charging package gives first-time Honda EV owners 60 kWh of complimentary public charging.
The EX has remote start, cloth upholstery with accent color stitching, an 11-inch digital instrument display, dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, a 10-way power driver’s seat with power lumbar support, wireless phone charging, two illuminated USB ports in the center console, heated side-view mirrors, two USB ports in the second row, two 12-volt accessory sockets (front/rear), a tire pressure monitor, a universal remote garage door system, rear privacy glass, 19-inch aluminum alloy wheels, and LED exterior lighting across the automatic on/off headlights, daytime running lights, and turn signals. The Touring adds a power tailgate with hands-free access, LED fog lights, a panoramic moonroof, roof rails, leather upholstery with accent color stitching, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, memory settings for the driver’s seat, a 6-way power passenger seat, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, welcome lighting (with rear kick sensor), and an illuminated instrument panel. The Elite is the most loaded, getting perforated leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, a key card, a heated wiper zone, a 7-inch head-up display, a 110-volt power outlet (in the rear console), 21-inch alloy wheels with self-sealing tires, and illuminated door panels and footwells.
The base EX has almost the entire suite of Honda Sensing driver-assistive technologies, as it gets automatic high beam assist, automatic emergency braking, forward collision alert, front pedestrian braking, side blind-zone alert, blind-zone steering assist, lane change alert, lane keep assist, rear cross-traffic alert, rear cross-traffic braking, rear park assist, reverse automatic braking, adaptive cruise control, and traffic sign recognition. The Touring and Elite also get front park assist, while the Elite is the sole trim to receive a surround vision system and rear pedestrian alert.
The ‘24 Prologue’s infotainment array uses Google built-in and an 11.3-inch HD touchscreen. All trims also get wireless Android Auto, wireless Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth streaming audio, HD Radio, SiriusXM satellite radio, Wi-Fi hotspot capability, HondaLink, and over-the-air software updates. The EX has a more basic audio system, but the Touring and Elite upgrade to a 12-speaker Bose premium unit with front and rear tweeters and a large subwoofer.
