The Civic Type R’s 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine with intercooler throws down 315 horsepower and 310 lb.-ft. of torque. Accentuating the turbo engine is a center-mounted, triple-outlet exhaust with an active exhaust valve. A six-speed manual transmission with rev-match control drives the front wheels and features a limited-slip differential. Drivers can access a 4-mode drive system, which includes comfort, sport, +R, and individual modes that enable enhanced performance. Honda estimates fuel economy ratings for the 2025 Civic Type R to be 22 mpg around town and 28 mpg on the highway.
The 2025 Civic Type R stands out performance-wise thanks to an adaptive damper system, dual-axis Macpherson strut front suspension, Brembo four-piston aluminum front brake calipers, gloss-black side sills, a gloss-black wing spoiler, an aluminum hood, Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires on 19-inch matte black alloy wheels. Its high-bolstered sport seats have suede-effect upholstery that’s double-stitched in red; the rear seat splits 60/40 split and folds flat to accommodate oversized items in the trunk. It’s stylistically unique thanks to red Honda “H” badges in the front and rear, sport pedals, an aluminum shift knob, red ambient LED lighting, illuminated (red) front door panels, and red floor mats.
Some of the Civic Type R’s other noteworthy features are a leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, wireless phone charging, LED headlights with auto on/off, LED brake lights and taillights, Smart Entry With Walk Away Auto Lock, a gloss-black fin-type roof-mounted antenna, a security system with remote entry and hatch release, a rear window wiper/washer, heated gloss-black power-adjustable exterior mirrors with integrated LED turn indicators, push-button ignition, one-touch turn indicators, a tilt/telescopic steering column, rear-seat HVAC ducts, and a 12-volt outlet in the front console. For track days, Honda includes the LogR Datalogger System with an available application so drivers can access information to help improve their driving techniques and lap times.
Honda Sensing, the automaker’s intelligent suite of safety and driver-assistive technology, is installed on the 2025 Civic Type R. The included technologies are adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation braking, road departure mitigation, lane keeping assist, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition, automatic high-beams, a driver attention monitor, and a blind-spot information system with cross-traffic monitoring. Also standard are a multi-angle rearview camera with dynamic guidelines, vehicle stability assist with traction control, anti-lock brakes, electronic brake distribution, brake assist, and a tire pressure monitoring system.
The 2025 Honda Civic Type R has a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system featuring satellite-linked navigation with voice recognition and Honda RealTime traffic. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay come standard, as do Bluetooth (for hands-free phone use and streaming audio) and access to subscription-based Wi-Fi hotspot capability.
