2026 Honda Odyssey vs. Competitors

Odyssey vs. Competitors
While crossovers and SUVs dominate today’s showrooms, minivans have not vanished – and with good reason. There are still plenty of buyers who prefer the functionality and format of this vehicle style. That’s why Honda has offered the Odyssey for more than a quarter-century. Yet, this benchmark vehicle isn’t the only minivan on the market. Buyers looking for V6 power may also consider the Kia Carnival and Chrysler Pacifica. Let’s see how these three rivals compare. We’ll look at the 2026 editions of the Honda Odyssey EX-L, Kia Carnival EX, and Chrysler Pacifica Select.

Pricing and Resale Value
With an MSRP of $42,795, the Honda Odyssey sits just above the $41,190 starting price of the Kia Carnival. The Chrysler Pacifica’s MSRP is $43,945. However, as we cover below, there's more to buying a minivan than the bottom line.
The Odyssey vaults to the top of this competition when it comes to resale value. CarEdge estimates that this Honda retains 56.8% of its original value after five years. At the same time, the Kia will be worth 53.8% after the same period. In effect, the Odyssey's 3% advantage effectively wipes out the Kia's initial price advantage after five years. Depreciation is notably worse for the Pacifica, which is forecast to retain just 40.9% of its initial price after five years.
Equipment
The Odyssey, Carnival, and Pacifica have numerous premium standard features, such as heated front seats and adaptive cruise control. That said, only the Odyssey comes with leather upholstery and a power moonroof on all of its trims. Buyers who want those upgrades in the Kia and Chrysler will need to shell out for a more expensive edition than the base.
Expert Ratings
Examining Edmunds' reviews of the 2025 editions of these minivans, the Odyssey's overall score of 7.3 out of 10 edges out the Kia's 7.2 ranking. The Pacifica finished third with 6.6. In specific categories, the Honda topped its rivals with higher scores for comfort and storage/cargo space.
Powertrain
These front-wheel-drive minivans are fairly matched under the hood. All of them boast V6 power, with the Honda and Kia using 3.5-liter while the Chrysler has a 3.6-liter. Output tilts slightly in favor of the Carnival and Pacifica with 287 horsepower each versus 280 for the Odyssey. However, Honda uses a ten-speed automatic transmission compared to eight speeds for the Kia and nine speeds for the Chrysler. This is pertinent since more gears can improve performance and maximize fuel efficiency.
With EPA-estimated ratings of 19 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway, the Odyssey and Pacifica share top rankings for the best fuel economy among the group. The Carnival is rated for 18 mpg around town and 25 mpg on the open road.
Seating and Cabin Space
The Odyssey and Carnival have seating for eight, while the Pacifica has room for seven. All have similar front legroom, separated by only 0.2 inches. In the back rows, though, the Odyssey jumps ahead of its rivals: its 40.9 inches of second-row legroom is more than that of both the Pacifica (39.6 inches) and Carnival (40.5 inches). There's even more of a difference in the third row, where the Odyssey offers 38.1 inches of legroom compared to 35.6 inches for the Carnival and 36.5 inches for the Pacifica.
Cargo Capacity
With a maximum capacity (behind the first row) of 155.8 cubic feet, the Odyssey offers the most overall cargo room of the three. The Carnival provides 145.1 cubic feet, while the Pacifica measures 140.5 cubic feet. Behind the third row, the Carnival has modestly more space (40.2 cubic feet) than the Odyssey (38.6 cubic feet). The Pacifica trails with 32.3 cubic feet when all three rows are in use.
