Ridgeline

Happy 20th anniversary to the Honda Ridgeline! It was a revolution in the pickup world, as the unibody construction and fully independent suspension yielded a comfortable car feel with the practical bed and moderate towing ability. With Honda’s stellar reputation for build quality and longevity part of the equation, the Alabama-built Ridgeline was a success from the start. The automaker’s clever innovations helped to set it apart in the versatility department as well, namely the first in-bed trunk in the industry as well as the first dual-action tailgate. The changes for this landmark model year are cosmetic, with a new paint color (Ash Green Metallic) and an option to order the Black Edition in a two-tone treatment with a black roof and lighter paint – either Platinum White Pearl or Sonic Gray Pearl.

Mechanical Details

The quartet of ‘26 Ridgeline trims consists of the Sport, RTL, TrailSport, and Black Edition, with two subtrims that just have slight appearance differences: the TrailSport + HPD Wheels and the Black Edition Two-Tone. A 280-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine and a nine-speed automatic transmission form the powertrain. All-wheel drive is standard, as is Intelligent Traction Management with modes for Normal, Snow, Sand, and Mud. Every trim has a MacPherson strut front suspension and a multilink rear suspension; the TrailSport’s is tuned for off-road driving.

According to the EPA’s estimations, all Ridgeline trims except for the TrailSport will achieve 18 mpg around town and 24 mpg on the open road. The TrailSport should return the same 18 mpg in city driving but dip a tad to 23 mpg highway. The Ridgeline comes with an integrated Class III trailer hitch and can pull up to 5,000 pounds. Payload is in the neighborhood of 1,500 pounds. The truck bed measures 64 inches with the tailgate up and 83 inches with it down. Its versatility is bolstered by the aforementioned dual-action tailgate, lighting and tie-downs in the bed, and the lockable in-bed trunk (capacity: 7.3 cubic feet).

Standard Features by Trim

The Sport has some nice amenities like remote start and three-zone automatic temperature control mixed in with its more basic features like cloth-upholstered seats and push-button ignition. It also has wireless device charging, auto-on/off low-beam LED headlights, proximity keyless entry, a compact spare tire, a 60/40-split second row with an under-seat storage bin, a 7-inch information display, rear privacy glass, power-adjustable exterior mirrors, two USB ports, and 18-inch alloy wheels.

The RTL takes a big step forward with leather upholstery, heated front seats (ten-way power-adjustable for the driver and four-way power for the passenger), driver’s-side memory, a power moonroof, a power-sliding rear window, heated power exterior mirrors, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. If you’re looking to leave the pavement, the TrailSport is your best bet with its protective underbody steel plates, all-terrain tires, and off-road suspension. It has orange interior accents (the ambient lighting and the stitching on the leather seats and heated steering wheel wrapping), heated power-folding exterior mirrors, and LED daytime running lights. HPD wheels (18-inch alloys with black lug nuts and HPD center caps) are optional.

At the top of the lineup, the Black Edition enhances the RTL’s amenities with heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear outboard seats, heated power-folding exterior mirrors, LED cargo bed lighting, a cargo bed power outlet, and additional USB ports in the second row. It also gets red ambient cabin lighting as well as red stitching for the steering-wheel wrap.

Driver-Assist Tech

Honda Sensing, the proprietary collection of advanced safety technologies, comes standard on the ’26 Ridgeline. It contains adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, forward collision warning, collision mitigation braking, blind-spot monitoring, cross-traffic monitoring, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and road departure mitigation. The TrailSport and Black Edition also get parking sensors (both front and rear). A backup monitor with dynamic guidelines is found on every trim, as are a set of airbags, stability and traction control, and hill start assist.

Connectivity Features

All trims have a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, starring wireless smartphone connection (Android Auto and Apple CarPlay), Bluetooth, and access to HondaLink remote services. SiriusXM satellite radio is added to all trims above the base Sport; the top two trims also get navigation. There’s a 215-watt sound system with seven speakers in all but the Black Edition, which instead gets an upscale 540-watt system with eight speakers. Every trim has a subwoofer for strong sound.
